Is the wood used sustainably sourced?
Yes. Wood is sourced form a number of locations.
The first of them is local arborists when they are removing trees. While I cannot save all the timber from these trees, I take as much as possible saving it from being discarded or taken to landfill.
Other timber is sourced from timber suppliers, which is ethically obtained from around Australia.
What do you use to finish your bowls?
The majority of my bowls are finished in a non-toxic Australian made friction polish. It does protect the wood but it is not water proof. Harsh chemicals or abrasive scourers should not be used to clean the bowls. The use of these will damage the finish or remove it completely. It is recommended that a damp cloth is used to wipe the bowls over.
I may also use Danish Oil or Mineral Oil to finish a bowl. Both of these are also non-toxic and food safe. As above, harsh chemicals or abrasives may damage the finish and the bowl.
None of my wooden bowls are dishwasher or oven safe. Hot liquids should not used in them either.
